These soft, buttery cookies with a hint of cocoa flavor are a delightful indulgence.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring gel
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling
- Heart-shaped cookie cutters
Instructions:
Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy
Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well
Add the cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and all-purpose flour
Mix the dough until it holds together
Add red food coloring gel to the dough until it turns the color you want, which should be red velvet
Put the dough in the fridge for at least an hour after making a disc out of it
Warm your oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet
On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick
Cutting out cookies in the shape of hearts is easy
Just put them on the baking sheet that has been prepared
Get the rest of the dough, roll it out again, and keep cutting out cookies
Put the cookies in an oven that is already hot and bake them for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set
After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way down
If the cookies are still warm, you can sprinkle them with powdered sugar
These cute Red Velvet Sugar Cookies with Hearts are ready to be served and enjoyed
