Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3-4 tablespoons buttermilk
- Sprinkles or colored sugar for decorating
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375F 190C
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until smooth
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined
Add buttermilk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together
Roll dough into small balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets
Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, dipped in sugar
Decorate the cookies with sprinkles or colored sugar
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden around the edges
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
